12/21/2012. That date may be a catastrophic change in history or another day in another year. I mention this date, because the mainstream media is now discussing it. On that date, something special is supposed to occur. According to the Mayan calendar, derived from an ancient civilization of some 1500 years ago, that day special energies will flow through the universe to alter the North and South Pole. Between now and then, this should be a cash cow. Fear and end of the world is always an attractive lead to many of us. Numerous fields of academic and alternative endeavors have commented on it and online book companies now have many books already published and ready to be sold.

My think tank president John L. Petersen, President of the Arlington Institute has contributed a chapter to a 2012 book that is reviewed at www.socialvibes.net/ . A number of us have endured the Cuban Missile Crisis, the near blow up in November of 1983(U.S.NEWS/2007:10/15:26) Y/2K, 9/11 as well as the possibility of world wide flu epidemic. Folks, this is written to calm not escalate fear. Many threats of future events including end of the world have come and gone and we still remain viable. There are 6 billion of us on planet earth.

This is to inform not alarm. Some scientists, psuedoscientists, and others are looking at this potential event in terms of what to do. In the days and years ahead, some will foolishly say that they know absolutely that it will or will not happen. Others are looking forward to it because idealistic changes may occur and others see dread. Petersen is a futurist as I am when I was on a sabbatical 30 years ago with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. My book ALTERNATIVE FUTURES TO 2020 which should be out in the next 18 months (Brock Martin Press) is a description of what life should be like now looking ahead 30 years ago. The report was generally correct, but I sure missed the population increase. At that time, few predicted 300 million people in the USA. My projection was 250 million.

Some 2012 writers predict a certain interpretation of the Christian Armageddon. Others see another future which is quite encouraging for nearly all of us. There are numerous future outcomes as there are writers. Many write to make money. Others will write to advance religious or political agendas.

My advice is to hold on to your wallet. Prepare like you did for Y-2K with can goods and related survival items. Some will have the audacity to have “going out of business” sales because of the prediction. My family if we are alive in 5 years plans to do the same things that we had during Y-2K. That is to pray to a higher power for help and forgiveness, organize our survival goods and go on with our lives.

When someone tells you that an event is absolutely true or it is printed that 12/21 is true, it does not make it true. You have to get there to know.  I wish you well. It wish for you security and serenity. . It is time to carry on
