Subjects were given $300.00 upscale premium
sunglasses. Half were told that the glasses they received were fakes (knock offs that looked real but are cheap. ) The other half were told the truth that they had high quality glasses. They were given a number of exercises to see if the fakes made the individual fake. It appeared that the glasses had an effect. Further, the ones who had were told they wore fake glasses also felt more alienated.
