Fifty years ago, was 1957. It was a year that changed the world. In Little Rock, Arkansas, one of the major civil rights movements big event. The desegregation of schools. Today, America

is as segregated as ever and new Supreme Court decision way heavily toward segregation, but there was a short while when it appeared that there might be "integrated" schools in the United States.

The Russians put Sputnik in space and it resounded as a public relations coup for the

late USSR.  It would take years for the states to get a man on the moon. John Glenn did

race around the world in 57′ in record time.

The Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles.

Two Nebraskans (just a young couple ) went on a killing spree. They generated a lot of press and a couple of movies along with a "record" album by Bruce Springsteen.

Ed Gein was a psychopathic killer who made furniture covers out of human skin of the people that he killed. He was an American psycho.

The beginnings of the European Union started in 57′ There was a bloody war in Algeria and

Ghana got it’s first managed democracy.

It was called an EDSEL using the name of Henry Ford’s first son. Ford was so proud of it, and I went to the grand gala in our town when it came out. It flopped.

The laser beam came into existence. The MIGHT MAC five mile long bridge

in the Michigan Straits.

Kids played with Frisbees.

The late Betty Friedan gathered her first information on the FEMININE MYSTIQUE. She interviewed graduates of the exclusive Smith College.

The birth control pill was introduced but not legalized until the 60’s. The first research

was published that cigarettes caused cancer.We had a terrible Asian flu and I had it too.

Jim Brown played damn good football. Type face came into its own.Ayn Rand became

a fierce spokes person for laissez-faire capitalism.

Dr. Suess introduced a famous cat and John Lennon met Paul McCartney.
