________(2006) BUSINESS WEEK/4/15/73-74

Once called the second sex, women now are slowly taking over. Without fanfare, the feminist movement and the women's movement have paved the way for women to move on up.The global information economy is service sector oriented. Industrial societies generally were the domain of bigger men. However, it is now brains rather than brawn. If given an opportunity women could make good said the movement in 1970. Today that appears to be valid.

Women get better grades, have higher graduation rates, and fill 2 jobs for one male job. In many but not all sectors women prevail. Women have always worked, but outside the home is what is discussed here.

Labor saving technology, nannies, and cleaners have created more jobs for outside the home

home.  Women have become the consumers beyond the home, and are likely to choose most other sector consumption. They are increasingly becoming investors. If there is a subsidy for child care,

they are likely to reproduce. They also do double duty at home. This is where men could really help. There appears not only a glass ceiling, but a home boundary around the couch and television.

This is man's domain. They really could help.
