YOUNG BABIES APPEAR TO BE ABLE TO THINK A LOT Wingert (2005) NEWSWEEK, 8/15 33-38 With the help of CATSCANS and MRI’S it appears that babies are not passive little creatures. Rather, they have a range of emotions. They appear to recognize their environment and choose some people over others. They can also spot objects and are particularly engaged in moving phenomena. Put down a baby and choose a doll, the baby will get real mad. Humans
appear not to be passive objects that culture writes upon. On the other
hand, culture or environment still appears to make a difference roughly
half the time.
