WEAPONS THE PENTAGON NO LONGER WANTS
_______ (2005) Proposed weapons cutback WASHINTON POST NATIONAL WEEK
END
ADDITION, 1/10-16, p. 30
The pentagon has a list of weapons they no longer want. They are:
1. F/A Raptor fighter plane
2. Ballistic Missile Defense system
3. DD(X) destroyer
4. V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft. (Allegedly, it did not work.)
5. Virginia Class submarine
6. C-130J transport plane
7. Expeditionary fighting vehicle.
I recall when the V-22 was proposed (see #4) The Company that proposed
it
did all the right things. They first made sure that the weapon was
built in
many different congressional districts and they made sure that
supporters
wore a pin showing their patriotism to the country and thus to the
weapon.
It was based on an incredible premise. You can have two planes at once,
a
helicopter and a fighter plane. The pentagon doesn't want it any more.
That does not mean that any of the above weapons will be discontinued
because each one generates jobs for key congressional districts.
