I must confess that I have a connection with Warren. We both went to the same GRADE SCHOOL. We both attended Rose Hill elementary years ago. When he graduated from the 8th grade, I was just down the street. My sister was in school with him.

As you know, Warren is considered one of the Top 100 in TIME Magazine. BUSINESS WEEK ranks him as the #1 CEO for 2004. NEWSWEEK ran an entire editorial on him. His company, Berkshire Hathaway has generated a 25 % annual growth rate since 1965.
US NEWS is crazy about the guy.

Would Warren be where he is today without a connection to me? You do the reasoning.

Warren and I have both had editorials published in THE OMAHA WORLD HERALD.

We lived in the same NEIGHBORHOOD. I went into his family’s GROCERY STORE and he was probably in the back room. All of this happened when we were kids.

We both lived in the SAME CITY. His father was congressman for our district. My dad was good friends with the congressman that followed Warren’s dad as well as the speaker of the house for the Nebraska unicameral.

Warren has an annual stock holders meeting. I have a FRIEND that goes to that meeting.
So of course, we have that in common.

At least half of my life, I lived in the same STATE and the same CITY as Warren.

And so it goes. When you know or have second or perhaps third hand knowledge of a great guy like him, then you know him. You know?

By now there are some that think that I am stretching things a bit. In other words, Warren and I are not that close. All I can say to those who doubt me is that I think that we are close and I have never asked him for any money! How well you know someone is the subject of a great deal of debate. All I can say is that we have so much in
COMMON that to question my relationship to Warren is to question my integrity.

I also want to tell you that I was good friends with Nick Nolte, the movie star and he lived just down the street from me on 56th street. We both went to Rose Hill. So there you are. Those are all the famous people that I grew up with and I am proud to talk about it.

As you know, Warren made it big in the stock market. Nolte made it big in Hollywood and I am going to make it big too.

I also went to the same university as Peter Fonda. I used to pass his aunt’s house on my to school. Further, I was just a few feet from Elvis Presley, Senator Robert F. Kenney and when they were alive, we were close. Very close.

I could go on and on about ties to the rich and famous, but I feel that my reflections may be a bit immodest and inappropriate. However, let me leave you with this. If they are famous, I know them.

Sometimes it is very directly. Other times it is sort of indirectly. However, I don’t see much difference between the two. Do you?
