WORSE THAN WATERGATE

Dean, J (2005) Worse than watergate:the secret presidency of George W. Bush, NY,NY: Warner Books

John Dean reviews the first four years of the Bush administration. He maintains that our current

president is similar to Nixon in terms of secrecy and underhanded political campaigning against various political opponents..

Vice president Cheney had a terrible heart attack during the Bush vs. Gore struggle before the

U.S. Supreme Court. It was hidden. Bush has problems with atrial fibrillation. This can cause a stroke. We also know little  about President Bush before he was 40. Details are omitted, twisted,

or unknown.

According to Dean, President Bush's drinking, business dealing, and pre-marital relationships are recorded by many but are hazy and contradictory. Bush hired a private investigator to see what others may  find about him. Those results are not known. Cheney has serious cardiac problems and that is known. He also has been head of Halliburton which also had strong business relations with

Iraq. Cheney's performance at Halliburton was mixed.

Bush has successfully closed down all papers and data about his time as Governor of Texas.Bush has removed the press from their previous quarters in the West Wing and placed them just above a swimming pool. Since then, they have been moved again for remodeling.

The president works continually on stage crafting his presidency and flatly uses signing strategies to nullify bills when they are passed by congress, but are not to the liking of the president.Bush has also mandated that all presidential papers and related remain secretly indefinitely

Cheney has organized a shadow government to maintian world dominance. In the New American Century, it recognizes that all major powers soon pass on. Thus, power should be won to it's maximum before the country loses it's power. The neo-cons agenda and a Cheney wing of power recognizes Trotsky's perment revolution, secret government and the welfare state.

There is also a discussion of 9/11. Since this book was written a number of the questions asked have been partially resolved.

Bush's hidden agenda is an ongoing policy of preemptive strikes if the military is capable of doing so. There is then a discussion of how Bush mislead the Congress on Iraq. Bush also developed plans and policies and directs them to an agency and makes sure they do not comply with the Freedom of Information Act.

The book then concludes with  numerous other examples of Bush's strategy to cover and make secret all things that he can to mislead the public.

There is also a special update on the election of 2004 and Karl Rove's strategies. The Dean book received favorable reviews by PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY, WASHINGTON POST , and NEW YORK TIMES REVIEW. It was on the NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST.
