WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET MILLIONS OF DOLLARS?
BUSINESS WEEK (2007) 7/2
BERFIELD (97) You have just won or inherited or was awarded millions of dollars. What happens? People generally fall apart. I did not say that they LOST money but that they WON money? The outcomes are similiar. BUSINESS WEEK suggests that you get a money manager and a psychologist that come highly recommended. First, do not spend money. Go to the IRS and your money manger to work out the best deal. Then slowly begin to change. Delay promises or promise and delay. Relatives and friends want money. The psychologist will work out with you what to do. Some relatives or friends if given money will begin to rely on you for money or even expect it. They can literally cry over the phone about their situation. You must make arrangements and must ultimately put a limit.on your charity. Then slowly make some purchases and give to your charities. Be aware that your children may come to hate you. Why? Because you gave more money to one child over the other. If you give the same amount to each, they can still get mad, because you gave the same when some need more than others. Got it? It can also ruin your kids, your spouse, your relatives, and friends. You can have a nervous breakdown or divorce. Various financial sources will call on you to try to get your money. AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, DO AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE CHANGES IN A HURRY. You could end up broke. Will all those that you gave to, help you? What do you think?
WELCH (80) What do you do when you are at the top of your game? You have beaten all the competition and you are on top. Don't celebrate, because the major thing is that you stay on top or go down. TOYOTA is trying to stay paranoid. They saw that the competition they beat were at one time at the top and then they quit innovating and competing. Suggestions, when at the top always have a plan B. AVOID THE PAUSE, LOOK OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, LOOK INTERNALLY AT QUALITY AND GOALS, GIVE CUSTOMERS THE BEST EACH TIME SO THAT THEY COME TO LOVE YOU.
SANDLER (42) Israel must be doing something right. The moats and walls have encouraged businesses within the country and is attracting outsiders and their money.
THE NEW REPUBLIC (2007) 7/2
POLITICAL CANDIDATES ZENDERLE (15) KUCINICH has a wonderful time running. It is casual because, most of his campaigning is on small college campuses and friendly radio stations. He can promise a lot because he is not going to win. He has his congressional seat and his biggest moment is when all the candidates debate. He gets his place on the stage. CLARKE (16) Lyndon LaRouche is 85 and too old to run again. He is known for zany off the track strategies and he sees numerous conspiracies, but he is training others to take his place. COHN (23) In the end, Mitt Romney is like his father. He is a moderate Republican and his favorites presidents are Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower. He may do conservative things if elected, but seems a moderate underneath it all. HART (31-33) This journalist went undercover and and took a cruise with the founders and editors of the conservative and respected NATIONAL REVIEW. What he found were 500 others who were saddened by the 2006 election. They focused on Muslims as the enemy. They want to bomb Iran. Most feel that the UK and Europe have now been overthrown by Muslims. There are sharp divisions between the Neo Cons and Isolationists. Most still support the war. He does interview William Buckley the founder or one of the founders of the modern Conservative movement. Buckley is wistful. Conservatives has been the reigning power for at least 25 years or more or perhaps since 1968. Buckley has doubts about Iraq and believed that this country must look to other counties with caution. It is so easy to get into a war, but how do you get out and at what costs? His eyes are heavy. TANNEHAUS (40-41) LET'S GET THIS OVER. The cold war is over and we are now into a new war. So we say good bye to the last era. Algier Hiss was guilty and Whit taker Chambers founder among others of modern conservatism was right. Hiss was a spy and he went to prison. It's over. There were about 300 spies in the USA in the 50's. Hiss was one of them. He had class resentment. He came from old money, but the family was falling so he got a government job and won his way to the top. That does not mean that he liked capitalism. So by the time of his second trial few were there to support him. . He went to prison and then spent the rest of his life untill he died at 92, in poverty. Chambers was not real likable and the intelligentsia did not particularly like him. Chambers was an ardent Communist and the converted to ardent Capitalist. By the end of his life, he moderated. In the mean time, he left many friends, but more enemies. On personal grounds, he was hygienically challenged and thus hard to be around. He was the hero, but looked the part of the villain. |
