It is no longer Soccer moms. It is Wal-Mart Moms and they are worried about the economy. Prices of everything are going up and wages remain stagnant. They are bitter and want some help on insurance and food. It is the economy stupid. However, they appear to like Hillary more than Obama.

McCain appears to have a chance if what he promises translates into help for them. However, even though they voted for Bush twice, they no longer believe in him and his party. McCain has to some how distance himself from the party or scare them back to the Republican Party.

What happened to the economy?

Farrell, C. / 125/126

In 2 book reviews,  he suggests that one the Chicago free market system allows for too many unregulated and unguarded market mechanisms that can drive the economy into a deep recession. Second, the securitization of everything has created phony money that can clearly harm the society with false credit. Third, market managers increasing rely on econometrics and related that have not proven helpful. Forth, the fed chairman Alan Greenspan let it all happen.

It appears that Keynesianism is gone and Friedman’s free market is gone. What will replace it at least for awhile is some regulation of the bandits and an emerging new system that is more cautious.

SUNSET IN AMERICA

At one time, Ronald Reagan’s America had found that is what supposed to be morning. It was time to go back to a country that lived before the great depression and FDR’s New Deal. Reagonomics got its start really in 1968 with the triumph of Richard Nixon followed by all the others who were Republicans in some way. However, now that the country is deep in debt and teeters on the brink of a tremendous recession, Reaganism MAY be about to end. Even if McCain wins and looks it like that right now as this is written, he will have to do something outside the parameters of Reagan. What that is, we don’t know at this time. It could be that he will continue Reaganism as we travel through many more years of fiscal conservatism. In other words, the Democratic Party is still torn up and kills each other or nominates another Northern Liberal who by birth and background finds it hard to fight back and hard to move to the center. McCain may be a maverick, but he is not a moderate.

Crowley, M /27-31

Obama is not going to get out of Iraq in 16 months. There are too many background sources that indicate that he does not want to be the president of defeat. He wants to be the president of a truce. Or, he wants to be a leader that develops an on going force to

protects the embassy, and related strategic locations. He also wants to force Iraq to run their own country. Money going to troops would be reduced to foreign aid and most troops would be sent home with honor.

If you keep a firm hand, but treat your workers kindly and engage them relative to ideas for improvement, it helps companies MAKE MORE MONEY. You have to crack the code of the informal system that workers use.
