V.P./HUNTING/ALCOHOL

By now, most know that V.P Cheney was involved in a hunting accident. He accidentally shot another hunter. You can get the details from other sources. I want to SPECULATE why the story was withheld for nearly 21 hours.

V.P. Cheney may have been under the influence of his medications. I have the same condition as the Vice President. One of my medications atenolol ( a blood pressure medicine)

encourages fatigue. Thus, the med MAY have influenced the accident. This complicates the situation. Does the drug influence or sully this circumstance and does it affect his other judgments?

The other speculation is that he may have had a thermos of coffee with a small amount of alcohol.

The caffeine in the coffee encourages alertness. Alcohol flavors one's perception about the weather. It can be cold even in Texas where the accident occurred. If not cold, it could be a bit chilly. The small amount of alcohol complicates the accident.

I SPECULATE that the V.P. was legally sober, but if the local police were to arrive and ask him questions that they generally ask, this would complicate Mr. Cheney's political capital. Even a very small amount of alcohol  along with the meds would bring into question, Mr. Cheney's judgment.

If any of the above is accurate and I am not saying that it is, Mr. Cheney did the right thing politically. Political figures must be above ANY appearance of misconduct. To complicate matters, he may have done the above without a thought that anything would go wrong, because his judgment was not impaired, but the accident still occurred. In reality, it would not be his fault, but legally and politically the meds and or the small amount of alcohol could ruin him politically. We are talking about the most powerful man in the world. He is the strongest and most active vice president that we have had as a nation.

Additionally, he hunts all the time in many different states. To the best of my knowledge, nothing like this has happened before. Therefore, if he merely repeated the previous behavior, even with a small amount of a medication and alcohol, he surely would believe that his judgment is accurate.

On the day of the accident, he may have been fine with the substances in him, but the APPEARANCE of inebriation could be politically ruinous. In other words, the substances within him did not impair him, and the accident was not caused by the substances, but was coincidental.

He could have been absolutely sober and alert and the accident would have still happened. However, this paragraph that you are reading can be difficult to understand for many thus the loss of political clout. Because, the average person wants to know is it his fault or not? The answer gets very complicated. No, he was not at fault, but he could have been. Thus, an accident becomes a tragedy even when it is not his responsible..

It would be best that the V.P. wait this out. His fellow hunter will get out of the hospital and will be fine. All those at the scene will stay on the same page. Other events will happen and this will not be forgotten completely but overwhelmed by other more pressing stories. Numerous conspiracy stories will emerge and die. The Vice President generally keeps a low profile anyway, so time really is on his side. He may go hunting again and again, but never shoot another rifle shot. It would be too dangerous politically.
