For Truman, there wasn’t any question that he needed to drop the atomic bomb. He had consulted not only with his own people but with Churchill and other democratic leaders.

Additionally, he warned the Japanese that he would drop it. It was a foregone conclusion. The leader of the opposition had advisers who said that Japan must fight on. The war ended shortly there after.

Nuclear and atomic warfare came to the forefront of military power and still exists today. It is the most terrifying weapons of human history.
