| THE
TRUE LINCOLN/ A BLACK PRESIDENT?
Shenk, Joshua (2005) TIME, 7/4 48-73. The entire issue or rather nearly the entire issue is spent on one president who name is Abraham Lincoln. What we find is an apologia for the man and his times. For the most part, I would want to share my feelings of support for the man that kept the country together. We discover or re-discover that he was probably bi-polar and suffered severe depression He was a believer in a higher power, but not necessarily a Christian. His wife was marginal and mentally ill. Lincoln was probably not gay, but definitions of that kind of thing were not clear in those pre-Freudian times. We receive an analysis of virtues and numerous other interesting information. No mention is made of his race. It is assumed that he is all white. To
the contrary, the issue of his racial background should suggest that some
one of knowledge at least rebut that he was bi-racial black or affirm
it. However, all this is lost.
