TEEN SEX

Wallis, Claudia (2005) A snapshot of teen sex, TIME, 2/7/ p. 58

They call it Jefferson City, but this study using a very protective and secure research protocol found that a number of teens unite others of same age into a social geography. Of the 573 surveyed, 288 were connected in an elaborate network in which sex with one really meant that in terms of STD’s, it was sex with many. Few involved in group sex. There were 63 faithful monogamous partners. Most relationships were romantic. Only 5% were impersonal hook ups. Nearly half the women and men had sex before graduation. There are core transmitters who could infect many. However, the core people are isolated, infections could easily drop. Just one percent was gay.

Please note males have a tendency to exaggerate higher numbers and female’s lower numbers. There was one couple who essentially brought 40 other partners into the sexual relationship in terms of infection.

The study was done over an 18 month period.
