THE REAL RON REAGAN

______(2006) THE ECONOMIST/ 2/4/75

Millions saw him as a warm hero, friendly uncle, and a bit forgetful man. He left office not real popular, but his ratings improved over time. He knew who he was. He was strongly interested in astrology, fighting communism, avid comics reader, and strongly in control. He bonded with the public after his near assisi nation in 81.' Folks who would lose out in terms of their paycheck loved him.

This biography by Richard Reeves is more on the person of Ronald Reagan than the creator of Reaganism. He was a loner, worked very little because of his poor health that was disguised, and treated most everyone as hired help.He was warmly ruthless and believed that if you can get 70%

out of congress that was a success.

He was not necessarily interested in religion although he was a believer. He did not read much. He enjoyed seeing a movie at night with Nancy and then early to bed.

In other words, he was the epitome of the pre-modern male. Folks in the west, would truly understand him.
