The happiest country in the world according to some measures is ICELAND (World Database of Happiness). It is the home of 300,000 people. It is a place where the cities combine the neighborliness of small towns and the variety of large communities. There are few strangers in Iceland and most everyone is related to everyone else. That is very true when you go back about 8 generations. Iceland ranks number one in educational scores especially in math and science.

They have a very mild form of socialism called social democratic socialism that covers health care and related. They stick together, because the mountains make hisses, and snorts as if the next avalanche is about to erupt. It keeps folks on their toes. If you go walking by yourself, you can fall and die within an hour by the low temperatures. Iceland is scary and adventuresome.

Many are free to create and try to a new ventures. Failure is accepted as long as you try. There is very little envy, because most are middle class with a few rich and a few poor. Crime is low. The important point here is that there is a strong interdependence among individuals. To make a life in this country, you need others. Thus, there is a lot of sharing.

Further, class antagonism and racism are rare as everyone is about like everywhere else.

The market for those with heart problems and the population that has high cholesterol is dramatically different. The second group is large and profitable. Statins don’t help folks with high cholesterol from having heart attacks. It is a great business for BIG PHARMA
