THE BEACH BOYS ARE COMING TO TOWN

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for that blossom world of good
vibrations and excitations. The Beach Boys are coming to town on June 24th at Kirkwood College... It will be ice cream weather when we get together with a big peaceful crowd to hear the harmony of America’s band, keepin’ the summer alive. The endless summer begins with finger poppin’, hand clapping songs that you can sing along.

If everybody had an ocean, well we don’t have that, but we can
celebrate one of the most popular bands in the world. Ninety percent of Americans know the name Beach Boys and place them in the top 5 all time favorite bands.
Billboard ranks then # 1 American band in terms of charted singles.
Melody Maker gave them top billing as the best world band in the midst of the 60’s and Rolling Stone made them band of the year in the 70’s. Today, Mojo ranks their Pet Sounds as the #1 album and Good Vibrations as the #1 single.
Recently, co-founder Brian Wilson finally finished his symphony to God
with Smile. It took 37 years to complete, but sales in the USA went over 300,000 with 5 star ranks from numerous musical critics. In the United Kingdom, it went gold. The Beach Boys last album stayed on the charts for 2 years and went platinum in 04’ (see socialvibes.net/small talk)
Bop, Bop, Bop, Barbara Ann. Well she’s on the Sloop John B and with the
band have over 90 singles that have charted that they have done by
themselves or with others... World wide, there have been 250 songs that were top 40’s and they have sold over 100 million records and 36 top 40 albums in the USA/UK.
Lately, Brian has had chart toppers with Getting Over My Head and Smile
and will have a new album for Christmas. One of his singles from Smile won a Grammy. Cousin Mike Love will have a new album released late fall or early winter. Al Jardine will have a new children’s book Sloop John B with CD insert.

Fun, fun, fun! Long ago, they use to sing 15 to 17 songs per concert.
Today, you get 50 hits. The Beach Boys along with the Beatles are the #1’s on classic radio. Even now, they rival world wide in terms of sales and related with the Rolling Stones, Beatles, and Sir Elton John.. Within the last year, Sir Paul McCartney traveled all the way to the states to present Brian Wilson with BMI songwriter of the year. The band has won a ton of awards including numerous Grammy and Emmy nominations.

Surfs Up! See you at Kirkwood.

All together now…”I don’t know where but she sends me there. Good,
Good, Good, Good Vibrations!”
