SEARCHING CYBERSPACE

One of my favorite assignments that I used to give to students before I retired was a list of searches that they were supposed to use and hand in to me. I wanted them to know about searches that would help them in life and the world of work. Here is my latest. Although it is incomplete, it can help you find things that may be hard to find.

NEWS

GOOGLE NEWS/ MSN.COM/ TOPIX.NET/YAHOONEWS-FRONTPAGE/ ARLINGTON INSTITUTE’S FUTUREDITION/NEWSCIENTIST.COM/DAYPOP.COM/USATODY.COM

SEARCH ENGINES

Go to GOOGLE and type in search engines. There are too many to list here. My favorite is GOOGLE and ALTAVISTA.

PEOPLE

Go to GOOGLE and type in people searches. There are many. My favorite is ANYWHO and WHOWHERE.

TRAVEL
If you like traveling in cyberspace, try EARTHCAM.COM, WORLDWIDE MAPS, and GOOGLESEARCH-REALTOR.COM.

SPECIAL TOPICS

You want to look up a special topic that has been published. Try LOOKSMARTS FINDARTICLES, GOOGLE, and HIGHBEAM RESEARCH.

SHOPPING

Try My e-bay and Google.

(For me, things begin and end with GOOGLE.) Have you googled yourself? Key in your name. Enjoy!
