SWEET CAROLINE THE NEW REPUBLIC (2008)7/9 COTTLE 7-8/Caroline Kennedy is a KENNEDY and she likes Obama so much that she went out and campaigned for him with her cousin Maria Shriver and Uncle Ted. Her background is that of an historian and writer. She has been asked to be on the Vice President search committee. There is more to this. It at first appeared honorific except that she has done a damn good job and informs Barak frequently. She has also impressed the hill and the white house. And so she marches on. Compared to some of her brothers and cousins, she has lived what appears to be a stellar life. Her appearanced in the public have been modest. HYVESTINADAHL/ 11-12China has too many males. To keep population down, they basically have capped the number of children in a family. If a couple went overboard and had more than 2 there were forced abortions. Families wanted males because they would carry on the name of the family. Anthropologist have argued for years that male disruptions are quieted but not eliminated when young males are given the equivalent of important jobs in the tribe. However, when the urbanization comes along, you have macho types that fight and rebel without cause. They don't have enough to do. China is learning the hard way, that you don't mess with Mother Nature. Females with one seventh the testosterone have the ability to quiet a group of males. However, women gain power if there are so manymales and not enough females. Out come the porn, fights, and every lousy violent type of activity to one can think of. So males not only fight each other but they also find gal boys that are feminine and will do feminine sex. In this situation, it is clear are gay men who are very popular with the straights. Aging out of aggression is around 23-25 and if the male is not a marriage that has sex and love in it, there is trouble. . WOLFE/ 47-53There is a revolution of sorts in economics. Neoclassical states that humans are rational, make rational choices, and any government interference screws things up. New comers find in numerous preliminary studies that humans are non-rational and do make choices that do not always maximize their best interest. In doing so, this new group has drifted into sociology and psychology. This change may be too much for the dismal science. Economics has generally prided intself into advanced math, hard ratio numbers to human activity. This hedonitic economics falls in to Likert scales and the like that are not ratio and for old school types just too soft. The reviewer Alan Wolfe suggests that they lighten up on too much soft science but keep moving toward how humans make non-rational choices.Let's also bring back Keynesian economics..

Tthings really look like crap in the mortgage market. CDO's and ARMs help build the housing bubble in the first place. Now everything is beginning to cave. The drop in earnings in the last year was the worst since early 40's. of the last century. There are tons of bad mortgages/ constructed by funny money financial instrument/ making the banks almost stop lending/ encouraging owners to walk away from the house/ dumping the house on the market/ driving prices down ward.. There is legislation now in the senate and the house where the feds force the bank to lower the price on the house and the interest rate so that home owners can stay in their homes. That is the upside. The downside is that lenders will dump their worst properties on to the fed. 24/ Nuclear power is great except it needs a lot of money to build and storage is still contrversial. It is still a viable option. 25/ Wind is great in some places but not others. It is okay in Kansas but great in Texas. It is even better out at sea, but more costly to build..
