REAL DOLL/ SEX ROBOT

Years ago, I wrote a review of the literature about sex robots. I said that the future would have these things and the future has come true. The original article went into publications and books all over the world. I essentially said that the robots would not do or solve the personal and social problems that other futurist were saying that it would help.In fact, I was indicating that the robots would add to the sex addiction, could involve children having sex with robots when parents are gone, and would leave many people without human contact. Since that time many years ago, much has happened in this area. I will let you do the search, but if you go to REALDOLL.COM/ there are nearly 13,000 entries. The site provides both male and female robots and vary in price

from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars. The dolls look real and are adult sized.

I would like to suggest to you that there may be a generation that comes into this world that finds

the robots are much less risky than dating another human. Humans can change their minds, have addictions, can cheat on their spouse. Thus some may find that alternative sex robotics answer their

problem. The doll is their love mate and can be perfected to the user's preference. Do not think that this will be entirely male, rather a preference may emerge with women who have been harassed on dates and find the robot superior to a human male. If that is the case, there may be numerous women and men that seek out other humans of the other sex as friends, but feel that an ongoing

relationship is filled with heartbreak and possible disease. Further, if you have a friend of the other sex or have a room mate of the other sex, the robot may not complicate a relationship.

Lets put this in another way. Your friends will still be much more engaging than a robot at least for the immediate future. Having real human friends and confidants excels robots. However when sex enters the relationship, there can be a personal trajectory of love, hurt, and possession. Thus, a robot takes place of a lover.

Last, think of this robot as part of an urban lifestyle. Other areas of the country will probably

continue the same patterns as now. Couples want a marriage and real natural human children.

Populations may continue to explode or slow down if there is a large impact of global warming and

changes in land and weather. I do not know if this will occur, however I bring this up in terms of people who plan for a family.

In the long run, I do not know what the position of world religions will have on

sex robots. Are the robots premarital or extramarital sex and thus wrong? I don't know.

Anymore, if you are familiar with chaos theory saying I don't know is an honorable answer. It also does not mean I don't care. That is another matter altogether.

I hope that I leave you with my ambivalence, as you must decide for yourself and/or with

counsel from your clergy. I believe that sex robots are here to stay.
