____________, (2004) “Is Japanese Style taking Over the World” BUSINESS WEEK, 7/26/p.56-57.

Much of the last 50 years has been the Americanization of the world. For better or worse, American culture has seeped into or trounced various cultures particularity but not only in the western world. France has done its level best to oppose Americanization, but their efforts have not been very successful.

In a large random sample conducted by Gallup from countries around the world, America is now frowned upon for various political reasons. The findings were blockaded here in the states but the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation spent three hours one evening going over the findings with News World International and it’s sister affiliates all over the world. Although, America retain its awesome military power, trends and related are now coming from Japan.

Japan’s economic growth has been spotty. During the 80’s, the country was an economic powerhouse and then it spent the 90’s in deflation/stagflation.

Now the boom appears to be partially back with consumer goods, toys, cell phones, cars, and fashion. American trend spotters now have to look to the east. Although Japanese producers use numerous consumer groups and focus groups, the most powerful decision makers are HIGH SCHOOL JAPANESE GIRLS.

They are now the center of pop culture today.
