A self employed carpenter used an air hammer and it backfired shooting a nail into his mouth and into his brain. It happened so fast that he did not realize that he had self inflicted himself. There wasn't much pain at first, but he soon ended up at the dentist.
Once they saw his upper pallet and the x-rays, they hurried him to the ER in a nearby hospital in Littleton, Colorado.
After a 4 hour surgery, patient is fine. The nail just missed so many organs that could have been life threatening or disabling.
What the story didn't say but the x-rays reveal is that the nail went into the pre-frontal cortex and could have tampered or destroyed his morals. Hopefully, this won't happen.

He plans to change jobs and make pizzas. He was uninsured and the hospital stay cost $100,000.
