MC DONALD’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Babwin, Dan (2005) McDonalds to celebrate 50th Anniversary TULSA WORLD,
4/14.

Ray Kroc the founder and originator of McDonalds noticed that some
hamburger joints in the early 50’s made their product faster than most and had
more business. So, he started his own. With his first place in Des Plaines
Illinois, McDonalds offered a very fast burger for 15 cents and a bag
of French fires for 10 cents. The entire transaction was less than 5
minutes.

The strategy was fast, clean, efficient, and cheap. Today, there are
30,000 restaurants with 50 million customers a day. There are also a lot of
imitators now of the process and the restaurant has become part of the
English language such asMc Job and the McDonalidization of America.

The first store opened April 15, 1955.
