((44) BUSINESS  WEEK commissioned Beta Research to interview 2,509 Americans in middle management and above that were involved in private businesses. The sampling error is 2%

By other criteria, these are the ultra competitive. They are highly paid, young and men. Fifty percent like firing the bottom 10% of performers in a company every year. They are cynical of women and believe that self confidence is the way to the top, not necessarily brains. The toughest on the block?

It is Gates and Trump. The most competitive company is Microsoft. The most competitive nation is the USA.They work 60 hours a week or more and make over $150,000 a year. Most check their e-mail even on vacations. They go into the office on week ends , miss important holidays of children and mate. Most don't even eat breakfast and would like to hire people like themselves.

A significant minority would fire a friend in the company to get ahead. They believe the best CEO would be the valedictorian over the captain of the football team and/or the homecoming king. They would overturn checkers board if they are losing, They would take more courses to get ahead as well as take overnight trips. They believe that those in sales are the most competitive. At times, they will take money over prestige. Winning is the first and only thing.

Chimps do not. However, when the alpha males die off the beta males and females are more harmonious even when a new generation of alphas arrive at birth. If there are not females and there is plenty of food, males become more peaceful. . This also applies to females.

Type A organizations see reality as fluid (postmodern) and therefore nearly all goals are like moving targets. The organization get unique and they get bigger and they obsess about customers. They are mean and lean and stay hungry. If necessary, they will temporarily join their competitors to grow faster and become stronger. For teamwork, leaders must identify the undiscovered leaders, bolster team bonds, look for the next generation of  leaders, and protect the social chemistry.

_______(2006) NEWSWEEK   8/28  NEARLY ENTIRE ISSUE IS GEARED TOWARD TERRORISM

Terrorism is everywhere that rich western countries exist. There is also struggle in third world countries that is less subtle. Terrorism is used to defeat the enemy by social and psychological means.  Although very little is spent on terrorism it rules our lives. As global integration increases there is division among countries over procedure and divides the western nations. Additionally. Arab nations have carried a burden and resentment from the Crusades and the political and economic Colonialism up to the present. There is a parasitic rather than symbiotic relationship between the west and Arabia. In spite of the rhetoric, the west needs the oil and Arabs want the money. However, when Arabic countries immigrate to the west, they find themselves in ghettos. In this instance, it is not true in the USA where many North Africans and Mid easterners have become middle management and professionals and live in the suburbs. However, the west in general has little appreciation of the history, the triumphs and losses of Islam and only vaguely know about Judaism.
