They not only will NOT go broke, but Buffet got a good deal. 44/ If you want to create creativity you have to have a product and production nearby to innovate. The USA is doing just the opposite. By out sourcing to China, you are also out sourcing innovation. China is happy to do the R&D. China is now gaining an edge in autos, biotech, computers, energy, semiconductors, and telecommunications. 66/ Coy/ housing is going bust and it will boom again. However, if you are caught in between, that is where you will go under. The boom was based on speculation and the bubble is now bursting. Getting in the game is only good when values are low. Some housing on the coast must come down and many are going to be hurt. One should look at a house in the same way as a stock. 84/ Kopecki, Cyberspace needs more room and it is going to get it. However, they have to compete with Iraq to get going. 89/ Weintraub Flesh eating bacteria may have met its match. A venom from an Australian brown snake has an enzyme that appears to stop the bacteria. 98/ Berfeld There is a new sport. It is fox hunting without foxes. Confederates lay blood and undine scents and the hunters and dogs take after the scent. The first to get to the end is the winner. This is PETA approved. NEWSWEEK 11/6 8/ After an execution, what are the emotions of the victim's family and friends? Long term interviews appear to indicate that there is not closure. Some even want to get rid of the death penalty. However, most want it to remain. The healer is time. Religion and medications as well as therapy appear to be the best help. All those interviewed watched the execution. 9? Israel is going to building a 6 mile moat along the Egypt-Gaza strip so that outsiders can not tunnel under the ground and attack Israel. The moat can block that. Israel no longer believes that coexistence can emerge. That is over. It will cost $250 million dollars. It will be filled with Mediterranean water. During peaceful times, the moat may have recreational benefits. There are possible hazards to the Gaza, Egypt, and Palestinian water systems, but security of Israel trumps those issues. 44/ Houghton Detroit is getting there, but they still can't match Japan. They must do everything and more to compete with the Japanese. Those with Toyotas and Hondas will not switch. These owners can go hundreds of thousands of miles without heavy matinee. 46/ Ramirez, Coca-Cola's secret ingredients can now be analyzed in the lab, but getting it just right will not expose the secret ingredients. THE ECONOMIST 10/ 28 17/ China wants Africa. They want mining, lumber and other related products. Africa will get United Nations recognition and little nagging about democratic rights from the west. African elite also get a ton of money. What is there not to like? 35/ Democrats are winning the west by being purple. They are right wing on social issues and populists on economic issues. These folks can cast the Democratic party as more than elite urban intellectuals. 36/ Wind power is great if you don't have to move the energy too far. The cost becomes big when it is moved many miles because the costs make it much less competitive. The wind mills are great, but to some they are ugly. If you live on the New England shore overlooking the ocean or on the beautiful California coast line, wind mills are not for you. Other kings of energy swaps could be in the works. The answer my friend is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind. 79/ There may be a slow road ahead. Since 2001, labor participation has fallen. That means less and less people working appears to generate profits. They can't get on welfare so they remain at home doing other things like being house husbands or wives.The peak was in the late 90's.
