KILLING GRANNY
KILLING GRANNY NEWSWEEK (2009) 9/21 EVAN THOMAS/35-40 There are not any death panels. Rather, about 25,000 people die for lack of medical care. This is about the elderly who are slowly dying and what medicine should do. The most important part is that the individual is dying and with heroic medical intervention, they will die naturally. This is called passive euthanasia. If you have a LIVING WILL or another legal document approved by the pro-life groups, your chances of dying naturally are dramatically improved. Further, as you are dying you receive palliative care. That means that you are kept clean and hydrated and given mild pain killers. However, you could go on for years in or at some level of consciousness. All the OBAMACARE indicates is that at some future time, a family discussion occurs about what you want when you are clearly dying. However, nothing in the Medicare bill now in the senate contains this legislation. Nor have DEATH PANELS been established. Everywhere in the world, there is some arrangement of shared risk via the government to take care of every one. Some are very poor and rudimentary and others very elaborate. However, the USA has the most expensive system for some but not all people. This is how we feel about each other. There are other countries of vast diversity, but they still have some type of socialized medicine.
