IS IT TRUE?

Once in a while, you will run across a story that you wonder if it is

accurate. It may come to you by e-mail and you are not sure if it is true. There are ways

that you can check to see if it is legit. This is now going to be happening during

the election season, but it can  come anytime. So what to do?

First and foremost is SNOPES.COM/ It was created by authors who wanted to check out phony rumors that pass as validity. It should be on your list as a top choice. The format is easy. You put in the name of the person being slammed and then they will tell you the background of the story and where it may have come from. They also list others sources.

Second, look for the person or organization by keying in a search engine like GOOGLE,

ASK, or ALTA VISTA. There are many sources.

Third, check WIKIPEDIA. It is a controversial source, because it is less refereed than

other sources. It can change by the hour. However since WIKI started, it has put in some controls that has reduced the number of errors.

Last, go to Britannica.com/ It is slower because they have an editorial screen to check out the legitimacy of the issue or person. What they lack in speed, the make up for in validity.

SOCIALVIBES hopes this helps you.
