Garrison Keiller  indicates that he has read a police report that two Iowans were at the Iowa vs. Minnesota on Nov. 22nd. Iowa won 55-0. However, on the concourse just outside the game, one Iowan a 38 year old married female and a 26 year old male (who has a girl friend) had sex in a bathroom in the metrodome. Worse, it was the handicap stall in the Men’s bathroom.

 

It was wild. It also drew an admiring audience until a security guard broke them up. They were arrested and fined. Both were very drunk. The female said that she was ruined. The male did not say anything. Their mates were at the game.

 

So? Keiller says that this is true. Well, this is the guy who said he was from Lake Wobegone. You try finding that town on the map. Further, all the kids there are above average! You can’t have that. Some have to be below average to have an average. Last, Iowans don’t do things like that. There are too many Lutherans and Catholics who come from Scandinavia and Germany and that is just not right. It is a sin of adultery. Supposedly, Lutherans don’t drink that much and Catholics do drink a lot more but they know how to handle themselves. Chalk this one up to an URBAN LEGEND.

Happiness is contagious. According to a new study HAPPINESS is infectious. If you are in need of a bump in happiness, just being in the same area as a happy person, your likelihood of bursting into happiness is increased by nearly 16%. There are other surprising statistics. I wonder how happiness is measured.

  • A new rat that is huge and scary is now becoming our friend. They can be trained to sniff out land mines. When they find one they tell the researchers and best of all when they step on the buried bomb, it does not explode.
  • A girl lived for over 100 days as surgeons waited for over 100 days. While waiting she was put on an artificial pump that circulated her blood.
  • A new psychosis is emerging where individuals believe that they are on a reality show and that everywhere they go they are being taped. This reminds one of the TRUMAN show where the main character was under surveillance in a phony community for years.
  • One of the major components of law and order is to keep the neighborhood in an orderly well maintained condition. You do that and crime drops. It appeals to both Progressives and Conservatives. That does not mean that all crime goes away and that police are not necessary. The new studies confirm that E.O. Wilson’s broken window theory survives.

Is the Detroit 3 going under? As this is being written, CEO’s now admit that they have been making bad cars for years. In this account, it essentially says save the Big 3 or Detroit 3 and they will change to small cost effective and better quality cars. Further, they will restructure and probably or hopefully become more like Toyota. J.D, Powers and CONSUMER REPORTS rate Toyota and Honda at the top in terms of quality. The Detroit 3 has promised to improve and hopefully the CEO’s will take a little less per annum.

Flint, Michigan is a mess and it just seems to get by. It use to be a big prosperous town until ROGER AND ME got outsourced and the cars were bad and so they shipped the jobs to Mexico. Flint folks buy 95% buy autos made in America that originated in America.

 

The mystique of the America car is gone. Little Deuce Coops and Little GTO’s have gone to the side of mainstream America. The Beach boys and the Boss celebrated them, but that was about it. Think early to mid 60’s when white heterosexual males sang love songs to cars. However, only certain cars got then nod. That is a T-bird and will be having fun, fun,fun.
