If you are just starting a blog and you want pictures, you may go to numerous search engines that have images. However, some are copyrighted and if you use it, you are in trouble.

On the other hand, try flickr. It now has a lot of use because it is a part of Yahoo.
Yahoo now reaches half a billion people in 25 countries and 13 languages.

The images are not copyrighted so you can use them. At the moment only the biggest blogs can match the news and media competition. This should help.
