HER NAME WAS STEVEN

HER NAME WAS STEVEN (CNN) 3/14/ 2010

We meet Steven when he was a city administrator for the city of LARG0, Florida. All of his life, he felt that he was a female in a male body. The very act of changing one's sex is terrifying and difficult for most. He kept all of his troubles in a journal. He wanted to grow up to

be a beautiful female nurse. How could he when he was a boy? He tried to distance himself by keeping SUSAN a deep secret.

As  a male he was quite difficult at times to be with. He was not a

negotiating type person in a job that calls for it. However, he did get things done. After his initial success, those female feelings came back.

Steven started secretly wearing women's clothes. Although, she did have 7 years of wedded bliss, Susan came back from within and the newspaper was right there to record it. They outted him.

At a city hall meeting, he was summoned and fired. Local Southern Baptist minister said with a snarl on his face that if Jesus were here

he would want Steven/Susan to be killed.

Susan went into socialization therapy. She learned the feminine role to compliment the female body that he was going to get. She sent out 300

applications without luck for work. So the new strategy was to finish  the medical procedures and then look again for work.

She moved to Phoenix and had an amicable divorce from his wife and is still close to his son. Surgery to his anatomy, vagina, breasts, nose and chin costs 20,000 dollars.

She finally got a job as a city administrator in Lake worth, Florida. Steven was now Susan and now she is also networking for friends.

The program was a 2 hour documentary that was shown both Saturday night and Sunday night. The story was of interest, because so few people do what Susan did. Further, trying to "pass" is something many people do who have race, or health problems that they would like to hide to remain at work and have a few friends.
