HAWKS DUMPED
This was not a typical season. Don't give up on Coach Kirk Ferentz. Even during the first two years, the Hawks got better. This year is one to forget. the Hawkeyes won many of their nonconformance teams and a few conference games. The tally was 6-6. That is 6 wins won mainly early in the season. Perhaps their best game was against Purdue. After that, everything else is loose change. They lost to 2 teams that they should have lost to. That is Ohio State and Michigan. However, they lost to Indiana, Northwestern, and Minnesota. They are generally bottom feeder teams. HOWEVER, at the time of this writing, they are bowl eligible and could go to a bowl. In other words, their worst season in 5 or 6 years is still not a LOSING SEASON. They could win their bowl and yes have a winning season. The major problems were lack of depth and injuries. Ferenetz and crew should probably step up their recruiting for next year. This is something the coach and assistants can do well. Incidentally, Iowa the state had a miserable season. Iowa state did worse and UNI is not doing its usual good job. Look for a bowl and and yes a winning season, it still possible.. |
