1993 2nd Editorial Review Macmillan Publishers In this review, the Sullivan and Thompson book was edited
paragraph by paragraph including the 1993 revisions. The book is entitled
Introduction to Social Problems. Attribution in acknowledgements. 1992 Brown University Options Grant Consortium This grant provides for monies to support speakers to discuss
future scenarios for international security and international relations.
Speakers were taped and video-cassettes were distributed to local groups. Talks
were also presented on KTS Channel 13 / Cox Cable. 1992 Macmillan Publishers Editorial Review Reviewed and edited Sullivan and Thompson’s Introduction to Social
Problems. It is the best selling textbook for it’s subject in the country. The
review included the entire textbook. 1990 Department of Education Community Based Delivery System for the Handicapped Services This grant provides for the state of the art handicapped services
program. Under the supervision of Professor Jack Terndrup and now Professor
Susan Simon. Kirkwood College’s Handicapped Services has become one of the best
in the country. Monies provided new materials and new curriculum as well as the
introduction of a new job coach system. 1990 U.S. Department of Education Global Studies Grant This was under the supervision of Dr. Donald Green now of Genesee
College, and Dr. Tony Koyzis now of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cedar
Rapids has numerous Department of Defense contractors as well as an
international trade zone. Monies were for interpreters, international marketing
and diplomacy. 1989 National Endowment for the Humanities Grant The grant was under the supervision of Dr. Robert Sessions and
Professor Joel Collins. The monies were available to develop three interdisciplinary
disciplines, three summer seminars, and a full time humanist as well as library
acquisitions. 1988 Community College Educational Assessment of College
Professors Along with Donald Green, 19 community colleges in all the census
districts of the United States were sampled for student preferences in
reference the Snell-Green Index. The Educational Research Center of Brookdale
Community College, Lincroft, New Jersey provided monies for research analysis
and tabulation. 1981-82 Wadsworth Publishing Grant Consultant to Wadsworth Publishing Company in December 1981 and
June 1982. Read and edited chapters on social stratification and sociology of
religion for the third edition of Earl Babbies Sociology: An Introduction. 1982 American College Testing Grant Consultant to American College Test (ACT) June 1982 under the
auspices of Mr. Richard Smith. This small grant gathered together professors
from three area schools to revise and modify the existing instrument for future
use. 1981 Comprehensive Employment and Training Act Grant This was a year long study in which CETA (now JTPA) populations
were matched with respondents of like demographics. The matched sample was
compared with the CETA population to see if the CETA group has significantly
improved their work status. This study was a social cost benefit analysis of a
local CETA agency under the auspices of Mr. Robert Ballyntyne. 1976 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Grant Clarence Cannon Dam Project This was an analysis funded by the St. Louis branch of USCE. This
was a review for a final display account. Questions were raised about an
earlier report by a rural sociology department of a major midwestern
university. A new data collection was used. 1975 Law Enforcement Assistance Agency Grant This six month grant was to consult with the criminal justice
departments throughout the south and midwest. Regional manpower demands were
made for the next decade. An alternative model profile was used. Other
theoretical articles and monographs were also produced. 1974-75 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Grant For this 2000 hour grant, acted as a sociologist, consultant and
technical writer. The specifics were to implement the Dana Study Year 2020.
There were numerous publications, monographs, and display accounts that emerged
from this grant. 1973 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Grant With Dr. R. Gary Dean, developed a social ecological model for the
Papio River basin. Four alternative land-water models were derived dependent
upon political decision making and population dispersion. |
