GRANNY COTTAGES
Granny cottages are little houses generally attached or close to the main home. They have one bedroom and the usual amenities. Generally, they do not have basements and some are above an unattached garage. Most developers have covenants where one can not build such an artifice. However, granny cottages are coming back and thus the location of an article about them in the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED PEOPLE. Both the elderly and their children like the arrangement, because the elderly parent is just far away from the kids for privacy, but close to them in case of emergency. Most folks today live near their children, but just far enough away not to be a bother. In most instances, this means the house just down the street or a few miles away. It can also mean a condo or an apartment. How these new or old phenomena will work out it is still up for grabs
