GLOBAL WARMING

Carey, John (2004) “Global Warming” BUSINESS WEEK, August 16, pgs.60-69.

BUSINESS WEEK reports that there is enough information to convince at least some businesses that it is time to move to a carbon constrained world. GLOBAL WARMING is a controversial issue. One side says that carbon emissions have opened a very large hole in the ozone layer. The other side says that we are going through a natural cycle in terms of weather changes.

The first position is held by the progressive and the second by conservatives. What information that we do have is that total emissions have increased since 1751 by 6,000%.
Emissions have dramatically increased and temperatures from 1880 have doubled. All the above could trigger flooding, ocean disruption, shifting storm patterns, reduced farm output, animal extinctions, and in new areas drought. Through the use of carbon credits, we can make wind farms, solar heat, and coal that funnel its exhaust into the ground.

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER, FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT, GENERAL ELECTRIC, GENERAL MOTORS, INTEL AND TOYOTA are making changes for the possible climate change.

I just returned from Glacier National Park. BUISNESS WEEK on page 69 show how the glaciers receded into mist from 1932 to 1988. I still saw some glaciers but most were gone.

Almost all the above can be debated. However, BUSINESS WEEK and numerous businesses have decided that there is enough data to warrant action. What is desired is action from the presidency and a few key countries. One that is prominent is China. The USA is the largest contributor to emissions.
