The majority of violence between girls is relational violence. That is one girl will hurt another with verbal assaults, vicious and untrue rumors. Although males still beat each other badly, fights are now occurring among females.

From 1980-2003, females have increasingly been arrested for aggravated assault. It has gone from 13% of total to 96% of such arrests.

Girls are beaten, stabbed, slashed, and other untoward behavior by other girls.

Sex roles are changing. It is possible that some genetic change in women is occurring but it is much more likely that it is culture. There are numerous new messages to young women to fight or fight back physically.
