EUROPE DOES NOT HAVE TRADITIONAL RELIGION

Tolson, Jay (2005) European not Christian U.S. NEWS&WORLD REPORT, 5/30 52-53.

Europe has numerous churches with few people in them. Opinion polls show that few look to a higher power advice.
On the other hand, Americans are Christian of various stripes or theist. They believe in God, but are not in the Christian fold.

The author suggests that by the end of the 21st century, most of Europe will be Islamic.

For lack of a better word, I believe that Europe will experience a new Christian era in which the liberal Christians will worship at home and the Evangelicals will have the churches.

Although Christian fundamentalists will prevail, liberal Christian will join each other on the internet. The fundamental flaw at this time is to assume that the unchurched lack any Christian belief. I believe they do, but that their Christianity is similar to the early days of the church when numerous beliefs were under the umbrella of the term Christianity. The Christian heretics now stay home knowing that their beliefs are not acceptable in the Christian church.

In the mean time, the growth of Islam seems assured. New immigrants are coming all the time to Europe and the UK.
