Over 30 million Americans suffer from chronic pain. The DEA had worked for years with medical groups to establish medications that would be acceptable to the law enforcement agency and various medical doctors to establish guidelines amenable to both parties.

Last October (2004) the DEA pulled out of an agreement because of a case involving a medical pain specialist who was accused of prescribing too much analgesics and was adjudicated.

The division has now emerged between the 2 groups and millions with legitimate pain unnecessarily suffer.
