Do you want to know a secret? You probably don't have any secrets any more. Every time that you do something with electronic communications, someone could be listening. Mike Frost noted in USA TODAY (2/28/00) that one woman who lives in Canada, wound up on the super secret NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY'S echelon data base. What did she say that was a threat to national security of the United States? She said that her son "bombed" in a school play. "Bomb" supposedly is a trigger word, in which your phone conversation with the caller ID of you and your fellow friend or colleague gets placed on NSA's database. Both the NEWYORK TIMES (2/24/00), and CBS's 60 MINUTES (2/27/00) have done stories on the NSA's monitoring activities. They suggest that the bottom line is that all citizens of the USA are monitored or have the potential to be monitored. Further, they indicate that NSA's activities have have spread to almost the entire western world, according to these sources. Jane Bryant Quinn suggests in a recent NEWSWEEK(2/28/00) article that all the web sites that you go to should be considered national headlines about your life. Have you ever stumbled on to a pom site or have gone to one in terms of curiosity? Well? Who is going to be the first one to come forward, besides me? There are telephones that know when you lie (OMAHA WORLD HERALD 7/23/92). I remember calling a creditor agency about a financial matter. I had inadvertently over insured a home of ours. In the mean time, the person that I was talking to had most of my life's history and secrets. It would appear that if the government doesn't have a sizable amount of information about you, private corporations might have it. It is probably safe to say that any moment in time, including what I am writing.. .even if it is not published can end up in the hands of some one else. If you want to discover what allegedly may be the trigger words to get you recorded, you may want to go to ASK.COM and type in ECHELON. Or, it you want try www.dis.org/erehwon/spookwords.html. I can not testify to the accuracy of this site. Welcome to the global information society. What you might have expected may be valid... We are all connected to this global system. However, our connections may not be wanted and the secrets that others have about us, may not be true.
