DIVERSITY AND OTHERS

Affirmative action and busing were not very good ways to get at desegregation. If you want

some arrangement, base it on social class. A few poor children in small doses are sent

to every middle and upper class public school . Schools with poor kids also get the benefits of better schools (on balance.)

The choice is a voluntary one. All kids can go to their neighborhood school or to a different school.

Local neighbors get first shot at neighborhood school.

If that is illegal, then work some other obtuse system so that African American kids get to go

to a white school or predominantly white if they choose to. This also applies in reverse fashion,

white kids and Asian can go to any school as long as the neighbor children get first priority.

There is a big secret going on in the middle east. Most nations are caught up in their own problems and thus do not share their concern about Palestine, even though politician talk as if they are concerned.

Everyone has an idea on how to improve American schools. Here is TIME magazines perspective.

* Students should know about the world. They should be able to have some fundamental knowledge of numerous countries and importantly the various regions of the world. They should be able to discuss their cultures and have a very basic idea of their languages.

* School children should be encourage to be able to think outside the box. They will come to accept that most ideas remain just ideas. However, once in awhile an idea can generate numerous new innovations.

*They should learn how to get the latest legitimate and validated information.

* For many, the rest of their life will be spent working in teams. Therefore, they should be taught

people skills.

* Can you begin to know math and think math in another language? That is an important skill.

* Give different diplomas based upon skills.

* Know the basics, but then get to know relationships. Generally a basic is not in a vacuum. How

does it relate to other basics?

*Know how to search the internet. If one search strategy fails, what is another.

* Be able to identify a new kind of literacy such as where did that come from? How does it work?

How does it impact on other things?

* Learn WEB 2. O.

Finally, you will still need teachers. Computers and technology can't do it all alone. Someone has to be there to facilitate all the information going on in a classroom or a base where students then may

go to start the morning. What this plan does do is combine both conservative and liberal ideas.

How all this translate out is subjected to the future. What works and how it helps or does not help,

is not known at this time. Further, how does all this translate in to general enlightenment and vocational and technical skills? Do the parents, teachers, and students understand and approve

of what is happening? Does it help employers to get people who are able to become good employees. There are numerous other questions and they are not covered in this article.

Iran is becoming a center for power. However, it has its own problems. There is competing conflicts between populists and theocrats. The country is relatively poor and has high unemployment. Many of the promises made by clerics in the late 70's have proved to be problematic .However, they are

on the border of Iraq and the country is in the midst of civil war, the army has been disbanded, and American troops appear to be exhausted.
