BIG BLUE

Ante, Spencer (2005) Beyond blue BUSINESS WEEK, 4/18, P.68-76

IBM or Big Blue is off on another course trajectory. For most of its
life, it has produced technological services and technology. Now it wants to
be the premier outsource company. In other words, if another company is
having trouble they can call Big Blue.

As an example they can provide temporary management, take over the
books, do new research and development, shorten the time necessary for accounts
payable. They can manage human resources or customer service. They can
also create new products or service for their client company.

With an army of PhD’s who have conducted applied services, along with a
slew of MBA’s and engineers, their job will be to do other people’s jobs in
shorter time and to create more profits.

The ultimate outsource company can also travel and relocate temporarily
to ease the transition from a company centered in the United States to
China or India.
