If you blog, you don’t make much money but you can get a lot of power. Some bloggers have such a large readership that they are invited to important political and business events.

Blogs play a major part in the last election. The phony letter about George Bush’s Vietnam experience was quickly spotted by a blogger.

Bloggers are highly partisan and immoderate in tone. They may catch 1000’s of readers, but they can be very inaccurate and filled with more opinion than fact.

On the other hand, mainstream media read blogs because they may have an insight or a lead that can help uncover a story.
