DO BLOGGERS HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS JOURNALISTS?

THE ECONOMIST(2007) 4/20

__________(34-36)

Do bloggers have the same constitutional rights as journalists? It is all in a flux. One blogger spent 7 months in prison, because he took a video of a street demonstration in San Francisco in 2005. The Feds said he did not have the shield protection and put him in jail. He said that if he gave over the video he would become an investigator for the Feds. Can the Feds by-pass state laws to get information?

At Scooter Libby's trial, Judith Miller of New York Times spent 85 days in jail for not turning over information to the Feds. Additionally, nearly a dozen reporters were interrogated.

The problem is that if the law is to wide, absolute and provable lies remain fact in print or media. On the other hand, if it is too narrow, many innocent journalists go to jail.

Previous to this administration, the Feds had to show the necessity of having the material reviewed by a judge. Since then, that has died. Blogge's beware. You may face jail time and if you make libelous statements big lawsuits.

________(49) In China, folks are avoiding taxes. The wage earner must pay monthly taxes that are deducted from their pay checks, the rest appear to be able to conceal their money from the government. In Communist China, health care and education are no longer free. Communism generally has health care and education that are public. However, that is no longer the case. Or that is the impression of THE ECONOMIST. So China is fascist not communist. That is my reading.

_________(71)YOU TUBE is in trouble in Thailand, Turkey and may be England. The trouble internet bloggers are putting on videos that demean top authorities. In the UK it is teachers. YOU TUBE is owned by GOOGLE and they went along with censorship in China. No universal law applies here.

________(78-79) Mc Clinics are taking off. It or they are small medical care places in a mall or a store. A nurse practioner takes care of coughs and flu for a straight amount of money.

THE NEW REPUBLIC (2007) 4/23

COWLES (7-8) President Bush has hired an official historian to describe and interpret the

BUSH 43 administration. He is Andrew Roberts from the U. K. He is very conservative and still

supports apartheid in South Africa, even though it no longer exists.

STARR (10- 12)

Women have trouble running for office in the middle Atlantic and New England. In the east, the Democratic party is white males. Women are invited in Democratic strongholds into the Republican party.

ZENGERLE (23-37)

I was able to save my son when he swallowed a nickel and I used the Heimlich maneuver. Out popped the nickel. NEW REPUBLIC appreciates that but says sadly Heimlich is a self promoter who does not know science research. Heimlick along with a fellow medical doctor named  Patrick invented the strategy. They tried it on dogs and then went past the science establishment and took it

to the public. It worked. However, Patrick did not get credit and since that time, Heimlich has tried to legitimate the maneuver on drowning victims, and use have malaria therapy to beneficially accepted for AIDS. It appears that none of them worked significantly or worked at all. Heimlich supports them by cherry picking the research.

I want to thank Dr. Heimlich because I used his strategy on my son and it worked. After that I said a prayer and took a Valium.

WOLFE (56-61)

Sociology is losing it's clout or has completely lost it by now. Graduate programs are shutting down. HOWEVER, Jeffery Alexander's CIVIL SPHERE suggests that the area's most productive for sociology is the the Civil Sphere. Economics has the economy and Political Science the government. To say that Sociology studies society is too broad. Sociology may cover it in

a general introductory text book, the civil sphere should be their field. What does that mean?

The civil sphere means families, ethic groups. social classes, work, religious life,

and other voluntary and formal associations. Think BOWLING ALONE. Wolfe traces the origins of the civil sphere and some errors made by the author in reaching too far in his theory.

What  Wolfe does not say is that sociology also lost out because so many areas such as urban planning, social journalism, criminal justice, social work, marketing, branched out from the discipline. Additionally, during the war on poverty, sociology did not deliver. Poverty won. Of course, the programs did not work because they were hurriedly constructed. However, that is the rub. You don't deliver then you don't deliver.

HOOVER INSTITUTION(black flap)

It is adopted by 6 states and more than a dozen countries. It is the FLAT TAX. You add up your

wages, and multiply that by 19%. That's it. That is what you pay.

HOWEVER, theoretically that sounds fine. But ideally, the rich pay 23% now. While lower social classes pay less. FURTHER, you generally pay the pass through tax that corporations add into the price. So, you pay with your wage the same as a multi billionaire and you pay for the taxes of corporations through the price you pay at the store. LAST, the rich and super rich don't pay for dividends. That is money made from investments and ownership of goods and services.

So who pays the most taxes per person and per family? The non-rich and the poor pay through their purchases which have been passed on through the price. With the very wealthy, you can also manipulate how much money that you get in your wage. So, it is 19% of a small salary when benefits are large and not taxed.
